Mint Building Services has commenced work on a significant project at 21 Keppel Road, Singapore. Following Mint’s appointment in January 2024, work on providing mechanical and electrical (M&E) services for the new Innovation Hub began in March.

The project includes a substantial power upgrade to support an electric vehicle (EV) charging company, reflecting the forward-thinking ethos of the businesses that will utilize the Innovation Centre. Spanning approximately 40,000 square feet, the endeavour is slated for completion in May/June 2024.

Set within a heritage building, the Customs Operations Command, this narrow three-storey colonial structure was erected in the 1940s. Previously serving as the headquarters for several enforcement branches of the Singapore Customs, this iconic edifice is celebrated for its historical significance and unique architectural features. These include a façade inspired by the Streamline Moderne movement, a terracotta hip roof, rounded-edge parapet walls with linear mouldings, and expansive metal-framed glass windows, making it a prominent fixture amidst the contemporary skyline of Singapore's Central Business District (CBD).

This redevelopment project is a careful blend of historical preservation and modern innovation. Mint Building Services is focused on modernising the building’s infrastructure while maintaining its architectural integrity to meet contemporary needs.

Mark Donlon, managing director of Mint Building Services, stated, "This project at 21 Keppel Road is noteworthy for our team as it blends our capabilities in M&E services with the challenge of preserving an important part of Singapore’s architectural heritage. We're committed to enhancing this space to serve modern business needs while respecting its historical value."

Mint Building Services looks forward to successfully completing the enhancements at 21 Keppel Road, aiming to establish the Innovation Hub as a key site for technological advancements and a model for integrating new technologies into historical settings.
